Data Generation

There are currently various data feeds that we use for our products, please find them below in approximate order of volume importance.
  1. Telemarketing
  2. Registration cards
  3. Fax outs
  4. E-Marketing campaigns
  5. Web Research
  6. Changes in Readership and Returns
  7. Data Population Companies
  8. Data Purchase – Companies House
  1. Telemarketing/Telechecking
This is the most common form of record updating. We make in excess of 200,000 call per year. We have two main periods of calling for the retailers and hospitality industries. One in which we call and speak with the head offices and get their details and the second is to speak with the individual stores/outlets to gather their details.
  2. Registration cards (Incl. Inbound calls)
Where an individual requests a copy of a magazine we ask for certain mandatory information to be recorded in order for a request to be processed
  3. Fax outs
Our directories use a series of faxes to renew contact and company data.
  4. E-Marketing campaigns
We use electronic delivery methods to facilitate the exchange of information between us and our existing client base.
  5. Web Research
Primarily for directories we will use the web to search for particular groups of companies.
  6. Changes in Readership and Returns
All our magazines have a return to sender address, which is how we find out about the majority of our company closures, there is also a space for new addressee details in case a person has left and a new person wishes to receive their copy of the magazine.
  7. Data population companies
We have in the past provided companies with an incomplete data field. Most commonly this is telephone number and asked them to source phone numbers, this has been done by either desk research through Yell, 11811.com or alternatively through web research.
  8. Data Purchase
We have brokered a deal with Companies House to receive the turnover data for certain key companies per industry, this data provides a point of reference to the normal registration question of annual turnover. This question is asked on both registration cards and also in the telemarketing/telechecking scripts.
These eight methods are used for each of our product sets; Magazines, Directories, Business Guides, Newsletters, Conferences, Exhibitions and Online Media. In some cases there is a slight variation to the description above but this is due to the particular needs of the product. For example Exhibitions use registration cards which can be electronic through a web site or traditional paper versions. In both cases the same set of questions will be asked.
